Cody Yellowstone is known as the rodeo capital of the world, so there is no missing the Cody Nite Rodeo during your stay. This classic event started in 1938 and is two hours of wild, western, family fun. Just a quick drive from downtown, the grounds are easily accessible for all travellers. If you stay at the Cody KOA, take the shuttle bus to and from the campground. Bring the kids to meet cowboys and bullfighters and get their picture taken on Mongo the bull! Mark your calendars. The rodeo runs from June 1st until August 31st.

Wild Bunch Gunfighters Show

Wild Bunch Gunfighters Show 2

If you are ready for more true Western experiences after the rodeo, you’ll be thrilled to watch the Wild Bunch Gunfighters Show. This free spectacle starts June 1st and runs nightly at 6pm through September 30th. If you stay at the Irma Hotel, you’ll have quick access, as it takes place just outside this iconic establishment. This historical reenactment is a must-see, especially for the shocking ending that includes a dramatic showdown.

You can purchase discounted tickets for the dinner and show or arrive a little later and grab tickets for the show only. This event happens nightly from May 27th through September 20th.

Wild West Arts Fest

For a slower afternoon activity after days of entertainment, bullfighting, and gunfire, the Wild West Arts Fest is a great place to take it easy, stroll through booths and grab some grub at local food trucks. Vendors at this event include jewelry makers, photographers, metalworkers, woodworkers, and more. Taking place from 9 am to 6 pm from July 2 to July 4, it’s a prime time to visit as the town gears up for the 4th of July celebrations. You’ll find this festival amongst the excitement between the Park County Courthouse and the downtown City Park along 10th Street and food trucks along the sound end of the park on Beck Avenue.

July the 4th Parade

The Cody Stampede Parade

Cody Yellowstone during the 4th of July is a must. If you can’t make it this year, we highly recommend booking ahead for 2025 or 2026. One of the major events is the July 4th Parade routed through Sheridan Avenue in downtown Cody. Dress in your patriotic best and watch the marching bands, floats, horses, and the highlight of the event, the Grand Marshal, who this year is none other than… drum-roll, please… Larry the Cable Guy! Check out our blog for more 4th of July events and start planning now!

Annual Runners Stampede

43rd Annual Runner's Stampede

If you want to stay on your fitness regime during vacation, especially after all the incredible chuckwagon meals, sign up for the 4th of July Annual Runners Stampede and enjoy an early morning run through beautiful Cody Yellowstone. For those looking for a calmer and more laid-back pace, choose the 5k walk. Those who want a little more pep in their step can choose between the 5k run or the 10k run. Either way, there will be prizes for runners and walkers in their category!

Yellowstone Beer Fest

Yellowstone Beer Fest 3

Drink beer for a good cause! If your vacation plans bring you to Cody towards the end of July, plan your trip so that it falls during the Yellowstone Beer Fest, a non-profit organization with proceeds being donated to local charities. Taking place July 20th, you’ll have 5 hours to sample unlimited beers, meet local business owners, and try some great food pairings from vendors. This is a great event if you’re looking to socialize, try unique craft beers, and are 21+.
