CODY, Wyo., April 23, 2025 – Croque Madame for breakfast. Aloha Bowl for lunch. Bison Bolognese for dinner. Travelers whose culinary preferences trend toward the extraordinary will find plenty of adventurous, satisfying and very likely surprising choices in Cody Yellowstone.

This region near northwestern Wyoming’s Yellowstone National Park punches way above its population weight class when it comes to culinary adventures. From a James Beard-nominated daytime eatery called Sitti’s Table to an uber-popular prime rib buffet at the Irma Hotel, there are choices for every traveler’s palate.

“Although Wyoming is known as ‘beef country’ – and honestly, the beef here is as good as it gets – there are many restaurant choices for travelers who have other preferences,” said Ryan Hauck, executive director of Cody Yellowstone, the marketing arm for the region that includes the towns of Cody, Powell and Meeteetse, a large swath of the Shoshone National Forest and about half of Yellowstone National Park. “Even eaters who prefer vegan or gluten-free dining will find satisfying restaurant options.”

Buffalo Bill’s Irma Hotel Dining Room – This historic restaurant with classic Western vibes has been serving visitors and locals for more than a century. The restaurant is famous for its nightly prime rib buffet as well as steaks and a jumbo shrimp combination. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After a meal, visitors should be sure to wander the famed hotel. There’s a room-long Cherrywood bar in the dining room that was gifted to town founder Buffalo Bill Cody by England’s Queen Victoria. The creatively stocked gift shop is also worth exploring, especially for visitors in the market for new cowboy boots.

Culinary Adventures

2 Mules Chuckwagon – This is a summer-season staple for travelers seeking a true Western adventure. With an authentic chuckwagon for staging the meal, the friendly owners of 2 Mules cook fresh steaks and go-withs like beans, coleslaw, biscuits and Dutch oven cobbler just like cowboys did when cooking on the range. 2 Mules Chuckwagon is located adjacent to the Smithsonian-affiliated Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and many visitors go there right after exploring its five museums.

Millstone Pizza.

Bill Cody Ranch – Marking its 100th anniversary this year, Bill Cody Ranch offers Mountain Top Lunch Rides that include trail rides to a spot overlooking the Buffalo Bill Cody Reservoir. There, wranglers cook burgers over an open fire for lunch.

Heart Mountain WWII Interpretive Center – Situated on the site of a WWII Japanese-American internment camp, Heart Mountain offers a series of public programs such as mochi and sake tastings and Chirashi Sushi Bowl making. The hands-on workshops offered throughout the year, are designed to educate the public about the traditions and culture of the Japanese Americans who were once confined there.

Powell agricultural tours: Food-lovers who want to know the origins of the cuisine they eat will enjoy a Powell Agricultural Tour, which includes stops – and food samples – at farms throughout the area. The Powell Chamber of Commerce can coordinate tours for any size group.

Mealtime Tunes

Cody Cattle Company – This welcoming restaurant is also an entertainment venue, and diners can enjoy a delicious Western-style meal while listening to energetic and super talented performers who stage an hour-long show throughout rodeo season. Situated next to the Cody Nite Rodeo grounds, guests can choose a dinner-show-rodeo package for an evening of Western-style fun.

Silver Dollar Bar & Grill – This is the place for Western-style gatherings and lots of fun. The restaurant serves staples like burgers and steaks, and there’s live music on the expansive patio throughout the summer.

The Colonel Venue & Cigar Lounge – Situated adjacent to Trailhead Bar-Grill-Wood-Fired Pizza, the Colonel Venue & Cigar Lounge features live music most weekends.

Tasty and Convenient

QT’s Restaurant – Located in the Holiday Inn on Sheridan Ave., QT’s restaurant and the adjacent Bottom’s Up Lounge are a favorite place for travelers seeking a comfortable and inviting full-service restaurant. There’s a full buffet in the morning as well as plenty of lunch and dinner selections and kids’ meals. The lounge is a convenient gathering place to cap a long day of fun.

Bubba’s Bar-B-Q – With breakfast options like beef burritos and spinach and mushroom omelets and traditional barbecue sandwiches and meals for lunch and dinner, Bubba’s is as convenient as it gets for visitors on the go.

The Blanca Tatanka – Situated adjacent to the Scout Inn on Sheridan Ave., this fun and friendly restaurant is known for its creative menu items such as Wagyu sliders and Nauti pappardelle. The salads are excellent too. The restaurant is within an easy walk of Cody’s restaurants and attractions.

Lunchtime Destinations

Lavender Lemon Eatery – Located in the heart of the town of Powell, this eatery features burgers as well as daily soups and sandwiches using fresh, locally harvested ingredients. After lunch, diners can stroll through the Lavender Rose Gift Shop, stocked with items created by local makers.

Annie’s Soda Saloon & Cafe – With fresh-made soups, salads and sandwiches as well as ice cream and old-time sodas, Annie’s is a great place to stop for a mid-day break.

Heart Mountain Bar and Grill – Located in the Yellowstone Regional Airport, this friendly restaurant is a great option a hearty, home-style lunch.

The Breadboard Sub Shop – In operation for nearly 50 years, the Breadboard Sub Shop features sandwiches, soups, bagels and more, all prepped using freshly baked breads. There’s a drive-thru available for travelers who want their lunches and breakfasts to go.

Skyline Café – This Powell restaurant is known for its homestyle offerings like chicken fried steak and liver and onions as well as its all-day breakfast menu. Meals are available for curbside pick-up.

Western Style

The Elkhorn Bar & Grill – Situated on an old-fashioned boardwalk in the town of Meeteetse is a great lunch and dinner spot for travelers exploring the hiking and ATV trails that surround this tiny town. This rustic restaurant serves inventive offerings like Grilled Catfish Tacos and Mac and Cheese Bits.

Pahaska Tepee – Originally built and used as a hunting lodge by Buffalo Bill Cody, Pahaska Tepee is now a guest ranch situated just outside the East Gate to Yellowstone National Park. The ranch’s Lodgepole Dining Room is open daily and serves three meals a day. It’s a terrific option for day-tripping park travelers. While there, travelers should be sure to explore the preserved hunting lodge on the ranch site.

Ethnic Cuisine

Sitti’s Table | Cody Yellowstone – Nominated this year for a James Beard award and featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and PBS Hometowns, this welcoming restaurant is operated by a couple who developed their restaurant chops as caterers. Sitti’s Table serves Lebanese-inspired breakfast and lunch dishes.

Zapata’s – Sometimes only a taco will do, and this long-time restaurant on Sheridan Ave. has some of the best in town. Diners can also choose combination plates, homemade salsa and green chili, and a selection of margaritas.

Wy Thai – This is a terrific take-out option for visitors seeking a fast and filling lunch or dinner.

Michael’s Tacos – This friendly restaurant is known for its enormous, smothered burritos as well as flavorful enchiladas and tacos.

Gasthaus Cardi – Situated right on Sheridan Ave. within walking distance of attractions and shops, Gasthaus Cardi offers a variety of classic German dishes such as Schnitzel and Potato Pancakes.

Shiki Japanese Restaurant – Sometimes sushi is the only thing that will do, and when visitors are seeking Japanese delicacies like sushi, the Shiki Japanese Restaurant is the place to go.

China Town – Centrally located in Cody, China Town restaurant features a buffet with a variety of Chinese specialties.

Pizza Heaven

Trailhead Bar-Grill-Wood-Fired Pizza – Reservations are recommended for this restaurant serving Northern Italian-inspired cuisine. Dishes feature local beef and lamb as well as seafood, wood-fired pizza, fresh pasta and small plates that are great for casual gatherings. There’s also wood-fired pizza.

Tossers Pizza & Beer | Cody Yellowstone – With fresh dough and all the toppings, Tossers is the place for visitors to grab a slice or two when they are on the go.

Wyo Dough – This centrally located gathering place includes pizza pies such as Margherita and Chicken Ranch as well as a meat-lover’s special, Notorious P.I.G. with a red sauce base, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon and bacon.

Millstone Pizza Company – Situated along Cody’s “Sippin’ Trail,” Millstone Pizza features plenty of seating and a friendly atmosphere. It’s also a brewery, so guests will want to try its latest liquid creations while they’re there.

Sweet Treats

Bigg Chill – Centrally situated in downtown Cody, the Bigg Chill features hand-crafted ice cream with inventive flavors such as Grasshopper Pie (mint ice cream with crushed Oreos), Bourbon Maple Pecan and Thumbprint Cookie.

Meeteetse Chocolatier – Operated by a one-time rodeo performer, Meeteetse Chocolatier is renowned for its fresh-made truffles and treats.

Caffeination Destinations

Uncommon Grounds – Located on Bent Street in downtown Powell, this friendly local coffee shop is great for lingering with a coffee or for a delicious coffee to go.

City Brew Coffee – Centrally located on Sheridan Ave., discerning coffee drinkers will love the brews served up at City Brew. The coffee shop carefully selects beans from around the globe to brew up distinctive blends.

The Beta Coffeehouse – This friendly coffeehouse features an array of coffees and drinks along with fresh-baked treats like muffins and cookies.

Rawhide Coffee Co. – “Meet me at the Rawhide” is a common refrain among Cody locals, who often gather at this welcoming coffeehouse in the mornings. The coffeehouse has plenty of seating and a convenient location in downtown Cody. Try a Cold Brew Milkshake or an Italian Soda.

Breakfast and Brunch

Rooster’s Café – This family-friendly eatery features hearty, country-style breakfasts and lunches.

The Station by Cody Coffee – Situated in a one-time gas station, this cozy restaurant features made-to-order crepes, coffees as well as sandwiches, salads and smoothies. There’s a drive-through window for travelers on the go.

Granny’s Restaurant – The down-home family-friendly atmosphere might just remind travelers of their own grandma’s kitchens. Diners can choose from an array of breakfast options like omelets, baked goods and pancakes. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner.

Our Place Café – Our Place Café serves homestyle breakfasts and lunches to locals and visitors alike. Diners will find traditional offerings like Sausage and Biscuits with Gravy as well as inventive treats such as Peach Cobbler French Toast.

Beer, Please

Pat’s Brewhouse – The only female-owned and -operated brewery in the state of Wyoming, Pat’s Brewhouse serves 15 craft beers on tap as well as Irish- and American-style food. Try the pretzel bites with beer cheese dipping sauce as an appetizer and the Aloha Bowl for lunch. The restaurant is also famous for its Irish Egg Rolls. This is a popular stop along Cody’s Sippin’ Trail.

WyoWest Brewing Company – This Powell brewery features more than a dozen beers as well as a full menu with interesting items like Native Taco Salad and a Brewery Patty Melt.

Cody Craft Brewing – Another popular stop along Cody’s Sippin’ Trail, Cody Craft Brewing features an onsite taproom where owners brew award-winning beers using locally grown ingredients such as barley. Pizza fans can grab a pie from Wyo Dough restaurant adjacent to the brewery.

The Red Zone Sports Bar & Grill – Located in downtown Powell, this sports bar features a wide selection of beers, sandwiches and sports bar staples.
