Cody, Wyo., March 8, 2024 – After another spirited contest, Cody, Wyo. is the winner of USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, this time for “Best Small Town Beer Scene.”

“We certainly appreciate the way readers hopped to it when it came time to vote,” said Ryan Hauck, executive director of Cody Yellowstone, the marketing arm for the region that includes the towns of Cody, Powell and Meeteetse, a large swath of the Shoshone National Forest and about half of Yellowstone National Park. “They appreciate the quality of our local beers as well as the friendly ambiance that makes it a pleasure to have a cold one here.”

Last year Cody Yellowstone introduced its Sippin’ Trail as a great way for thirsty visitors to experience some of the region’s most popular restaurants and bars. The trail includes breweries, drinkeries and unique venues such as a cigar lounge and a historic hotel built by town founder Buffalo Bill Cody. Participating establishments include The Elkhorn Bar & Grill in Meeteetse and Hickory Street Bistro in Powell. Cody participants include The Colonel Venue and Cigar Lounge, 8th Street at the Ivy, Cassie’s Steakhouse, Buffalo Bill’s Irma Hotel & Restaurant, Cody Craft Brewing, Chamberlin Inn, Millstone Pizza Company & Brewery, Pat’s Brew House, Proud Cut Saloon, WYOld West Brewing and QT’s Restaurant.

The award is just the latest in a multi-year run. Last year the editors of True West magazine named Cody the “Top Western Town” and “Best Old West Art Town” while the Smithsonian-affiliated Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Plains Indian Museum was named “Best American Indian Collection, and the Irma Hotel was recognized as the “Best ‘Who Slept Here’ Hotel.” In addition to the editors’ choices, readers named the Cody Trolley the “Best Historic Town Tour.”

Cody Craft Brewing is one of the popular watering holes in town.

The town was recently lauded by USA Today in a list of Top Small Town Arts Scenes and a  top art town by Travel + Leisure. True West made special note of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Whitney Western Art Museum, the month-long Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale and the Rendezvous Royale Western art celebration.

Cody is currently in the running for “Best Small Town in the West” by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

The 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest launches new categories every other Monday at noon, revealing each category’s 20 nominees. Nominees for all categories are chosen by a panel of relevant experts which include a combination of editors, expert contributors and other sources. All voting is digital and the 10Best Readers’ Choice Award contest is accessible on the 10Best.com website.
