Cody Yellowstone Announces Lineup of 2025-26 Winter Events

CODY, Wyo., Dec. 4, 2025 – An ice climbing festival, ice fishing derby and a ton of Christmas events are in store for locals and visitors this winter season in Cody Yellowstone.

“With fantastic outdoor recreation and small-town charm, winter shows our towns at their best,” said Katrina Southern, marketing manager for Cody Yellowstone. “From a holiday craft fair to an ice fishing derby, visitors and locals alike will find plenty of ways to fill their winter days with fun.”

Here are some noteworthy events this winter:

November 20 – Powell’s Christmas Fest Sample the Season

For many, the holiday season kicks off with a Christmas market atmosphere in downtown Powell November 21. Old and new friends alike enjoy strolling through the community and shopping under the soothing glow of holiday lights.

November 22 – Cody’s Holiday Craft Fair

Held in downtown Cody, this craft fair will feature more than 50 vendors selling homemade items. The event will benefit Crisis Intervention Services.

November 23 – Lion’s Club Turkey Day

This annual fundraiser for the Cody Lion’s Club includes shooting games, turkey-themed kids games and a raffle for a pickup truck.

November 29 – Merry Mingle Tree Lighting & Bingo

This free event will include tree lightings as well as presenting ornaments to take home and a reading of the names of lost loved ones.

November 29 – Tea in the Trees

Groups of eight will set up tables and enjoy tea while listening to the Cody United Methodist Chapel Bell Choir and Yellowstone Harmony Chorus.

November 29 – Cody Cowboy Christmas Stroll and Lighted Parade

Cody’s main drag – Sheridan Avenue – shuts down for downtown events and the lighted Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Festivities include a Christmas stroll with food trucks, scavenger hunt, warming burn barrels and Santa Claus.

November 30 – Santa Fly-In

Head to Yellowstone Regional Airport for cookie decorating, letters to Santa, hot chocolate, goodie bags and more.

December 1– Bedtime Story and Cookies with Mrs. Claus

Put on your pajamas and listen to stories and enjoy cookies and milk. Two lucky kids will head home with a basket of new books.

December 6 – Christmas in Meeteetse

There’s something for everyone with photos with Santa, Santa’s Workshop, cookie decorating, food, drink, memory tree decorating, face painting and carriage rides.

December 13 & 14 – Rocky Mountain Dance Theater Annual Performance of The Nutcracker

This annual performance of the enchanting holiday ballet is staged at the Wynona Thompson Auditorium.

January 1-4 – Wyoming Ice Festival

The Wyoming Ice Festival will be back for its third year with more than 20 climbing clinics for every level from beginner to advanced. The festival features ice climbing clinics by day and nightly speakers and presentations developed to inspire and encourage festival participants. Evening activities will start each night at 7 p.m. with food trucks and Snake River Brewing beer available. The Cody Cattle Company will host evening events.

February 13-15 – Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby

Back for its 18th year, the Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby draws fishing enthusiasts from across the country to the Sunshine Reservoirs. Participants compete for more than $10,000 in prizes. The Small Fry Contest is a special competition for kids 14 and under.

February 21 – Buffalo Bill Birthday Ball

Staged at the Cody Auditorium, this annual event is held on the Saturday nearest to town founder Buffalo Bill Cody’s Feb. 26 birthday. The day of the event is declared “Buffalo Bill Day” by official proclamation of the Cody City Council. The ball is a fundraiser for multiple organizations, and it includes music, dancing, a prime rib dinner, silent and live auctions and more.

February 21 – 13th Annual Taste of Trails

This family-friendly event is designed to encourage skiers and snowshoers of all ages and abilities to try out the trails administered by the Park County Nordic Ski Association.
