Newsweek Names Wyoming River Trips One of Best Whitewater Rafting Adventures in U.S., Adding to Long List of Recent Media Accolades for Cody Yellowstone

CODY, April 18, 2024 – Wyoming River Trips in Cody Yellowstone was named one of the top 10 whitewater rafting adventures in the United States by readers of Newsweek. This is the latest in an ever-lengthening list of accolades that highlight the best of this popular Northwestern Wyoming destination.

Wyoming River Trips operates a variety of half-, full- and multi-day and custom rafting trips on the Shoshone River. The most popular trip is a half-day adventure that travels through the Red Rock Canyon and Lower Canyon, covering about 12 river miles. Rafters paddle Class 1- III rapids, making the trip especially popular among Cody visitors who are new to rafting or prefer scenic paddling experiences. Established in 1978, Wyoming River Trips is a family operation that is presently owned and operated by second-generation family member Landon Blanchard and Elyse Guarino.

The Newsweek accolade is the latest in a multi-year run of “best of” awards. Readers of USA Today named Cody for the Best Small-Town Beer Scene in the U.S., a reflection of the the town’s burgeoning brewery scene and its popular Sippin Trail. Additionally, Cody was called one of the top 10 small towns in the West, and Newsweek named the Whitney Western Art Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West was named the best art museum in the country.  Last year the editors of True West magazine named Cody the “Top Western Town” and “Best Old West Art Town” while the Smithsonian-affiliated Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Plains Indian Museum was named “Best American Indian Collection, and the Irma Hotel was recognized as the “Best ‘Who Slept Here’ Hotel.” In addition to the editors’ choices, readers named the Cody Trolley the “Best Historic Town Tour.”

The town was recently lauded by USA Today in a list of Top Small Town Arts Scenes and a  top art town by Travel + Leisure. True West made special note of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West’s Whitney Western Art Museum, the month-long Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale and the Rendezvous Royale Western art celebration.
