Kirwin’s population was about 200 people and included a sawmill, boarding houses, a hotel, two stores, a post office, cabins, stables, and sheds. In February of 1907, an avalanche swept through Kirwin and killed several people. The site was abandoned. Many of the buildings and equipment remain.
