Ice Climbing

Outdoor Recreation

Secluded valley southwest of Cody with the Shoshone River running through it. No phones, no lights, occasionally motorcars. A definite alpine feel with a variety of grades to climb. Many times the approach is the crux of the route. Bands of harder horizontal stone provide benches for ice to form on.

Historic Cody Mural and Museum

Museums

Beautiful mural painted on ceiling of rotunda, completed in 1951 depicting scenes from the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Recently renovated mural and museum shares the contributions and challenges of pioneers who settled the Big Horn Basin from 1900-1910.

Wake Up to Wildlife Tours

Tours

Dawn is really the best time to search out the wild things, so we’ll leave Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel or Roosevelt Lodge bright and early and head for Lamar Valley. Here, expansive views provide great opportunities to find spectacular megafauna grazing or hunting on the open hillsides, and your driver/guide will know where the action has been as of late (as we’re looking for genuinely wild animals, there are no guarantees of course!). Our Historic Yellow Bus will be provisioned with muffins and juice for all aboard. If you really want to take your best chance to glimpse the great beasts, come Wake Up to Wildlife with us!

Old Trail Town and Museum of the Old West

Museums

Step back in time to the Old West of the 1890s at Old Trail Town, located on the original town site of Cody City, Wyoming. Stroll through 28 historic buildings including Butch Cassidy's Hole in the Wall Cabin and Rose William's Roadhouse. Visit the cemetery and Jeremiah Johnston's grave, and view Mountain Men monuments.
