Camping

Buffalo Bill spent some of his most cherished moments in the mountains, rivers and lakes near Cody. He loved the peace and quiet he found in these wild places as well as the fun and adventure. The area mountains, valleys and streams provide incredible camping opportunities.  From local campgrounds and RV Parks to intimate tent camping in the Shoshone National Forest or Yellowstone National Park.

Please remember that we share this beautiful country with our local wildlife. Take a minute to familiarize yourself with the rules, regulations and safety precautions that must be taken to ensure  your stay in Buffalo Bill’s Yellowstone Country is a safe, happy and memorable one. Click here to read about the safety precautions issued by the National Park Service.  Click here to download hiking and camping facts issued by The Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee, Wyoming Game & Fish Dept and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

After a full day of fun and adventure, pitch your tent in Yellowstone’s backcountry or one of the 12 campgrounds. A Use Permit is required for all overnight stays in the backcountry. Permits may be obtained only in person and no more than 48 hours in advance. Permits may be obtained in most ranger stations and visitor centers.
